  Unlike many dance schools in the area, and the reason why I choose Mary Lou's, is because you get a serious dance studio without all the unnecessary fluff. At Mary Lou's the art of dance and learning come first, while still having lots of fun doing it and meeting new friends along the way.
  
  Miss Karen and her team emphasize that grace and beauty come from within, which is the real lesson here! They are truly warm and inviting, and go the extra "step" to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible.
  
  Friend week, Halloween, PJ Day, Mom or Dad Dance with Me, so many fun activities are spread out throughout the year so you can participate with and be a part of your tiny dancer's dance world!
  
  Awesome dance school made even better with Miss Karen and her crew!

  I started ballet classes for my almost 3 year old three weeks back. She is one of the two brown kids in the class full of white kids and has a spunky, adventurous and very outgoing personality. I was skeptical to begin with if she will be a good fit for ballet since it requires a certain kind of personality and was going with an open mind to see how it goes.
  Class 1- teacher comes out after the class and asks if my daughter and the other brown kid understood English (because they were not following their directions) in a derogatory manner (talking slowly in trying to make us understand English). I ignored and told her that she has been going to daycare full time and understands English very well.
  Class 2- teacher told me that my daughter was not following the line and when the assistant teacher tried to make her follow the line, she pushed her. I made my daughter apologize. The look of disgust and disdain that the teacher gave my daughter was enough to send chills down my spine yet I tried to ignore it.
  Class 3- When the kids came out, the assistant teacher was confused between the two brown kids when asked how my girl did in class! The same look of disdain came on the teacher’s face when she talked about my daughter
  I decided to withdraw my kid from the classes (based on the bad vibes that I am getting). Decided to talk to the manager/ lady at the front desk, who instead of paying attention to what I was saying was busy giving the same disgusted looks to my daughter (who was running around like a 3 year old does, not bothering anyone). When my daughter picked a box of ballet shoes while I was talking to the lady, she yelled NO to my daughter as though she had committed the biggest crime of the century.
  
  To sum it all up, these women working in this school need to be taught how to deal with little children with spunk and personality. They need to also be conditioned on how to handle parents and kids of different nationalities and ethnicities. They are in a town which is getting diverse day by day and it will hurt their business and reputation if they don’t change their ways.
  As for me, I am taking my business elsewhere and good riddance!
